National Board Certification, offered by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), recognizes highly accomplished teaching that occurs in schools throughout the country. National Board Certification is a demonstration of expert teaching practice as measured against high and rigorous standards and is a voluntary process. While recognized in many states, does not take the place of state licensure requirements.
